Tweet Tweet... Latest Twitter Beat

In the Twitter world

Although I am familiar with social media and do utilize a few accounts, Twitter was my least favorite. In my personal opinion, I feel there is no point to retweeting posts. or even posting. I also had no interest in creating a Twitter account. Here is my Twitter account. I feel it is the most difficult to understand of social media accounts. When it comes to social media accounts, I am an observer instead of an actual “post-er”. The feeling of having a public account, gave me an uneasy feeling. For professional reasons, I accepted the challenge and started to explore the Twitter world. During the last few weeks of experimenting with following, retweeting, and posts and exploring different resources… I have to admit, it’s not so bad! I explored educational resources, came across some interesting content and I even had someone like a tweet I posted!   #edchat

An account I decided to follow and found posts to be quite interesting is Edutopia! They have many interesting facts and information on there. Some chats posted on Edutopia caught my attention, where posts about actively greeting students, diverse learners, positive interactions between students in the classroom and classroom management.  The post I was able to relate most to was about the diverse learners. Edutopia was able to pinpoint and make suggestions for teachers who may have students with ADHD or students with ODD. Suggestions included remaining calm, choosing words carefully, praising positive behavior, trying to determine the cause for the behavior and creating a plan. The article stated how 16%-40% of children are being diagnosed with ADHD and ODD.

On #edchat, I posted something that I felt teachers should consider, including myself when it comes to interacting with diverse learners and students in general. My post was then retweeted my #edchat and liked. I was impressed by this, especially my recent discoveries in the Twitter world. I will definitely continue to use Twitter for career and professional reasons. I did not realize how useful Twitter could be to professionals. Currently, I am following at least 17 useful resources on Twitter. I have found all resources to be useful!
